Attorney Peter Berger knows criminal defense. For more than 30 years, he has been a trial lawyer, starting out as a law clerk for the Polk County Attorney's Office, then as a prosecutor in 1977. Soon, Mr. Berger became the prosecutor on all sex crimes in Polk County; then was assigned to the Major Offense Bureau handling all types of other major violent crimes. Then, after going into private practice in 1980, Attorney Berger was hired by Polk County as a special prosecutor on Iowa's first televised murder case. In addition, Mr. Berger is co-author of Iowa Criminal Forms, a text recognized by judges and fellow attorneys as the authoritative source for criminal court submissions.
